SKINCARE

-How many times do you wash your face daily?

Mostly twice, always always always at night to wash my makeup off, although sometimes if my skin is feeling very dry I skip this step in the morning.
-What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
It’s probably combination most of the year, although it can lean towards dry in Winter.
-What is your current facial wash?
Cetaphil. Cheap and cheerful
-Do you exfoliate?
Yes, couldn’t live without exfoliating!
-What brand do you use?
Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant, it’s brilliant but pricey stuff. It’s a powder exfoliant that you mix with water until it forms a paste and then exfoliate with that
-What moisturizer do you use?
Bioderma’s Atoderm PO Zinc, it’s an amazing, affordable range that caters to sensitive or needy skin. This particular one is rich and creamy and I use it mostly at night to repair and moisturise.
-Do you have freckles?
Yip, on my nose and cheeks and on my upper lip (very weird).
-Do you use eye cream?
No although I’m seriously starting to wonder if I should be investing in one.
-Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Never full blown acne. My skin was mostly clear throughout my high school years, with the occasional breakout, but once I hit my twenties I got hormonal breakouts on my chin and jawline. Not shocking ones, but definitely not confidence boosting. I’ve since done a short course of extremely low dose of Accutane and my skin has cleared and never been better. I’m lucky to have been blessed with fair, porcelain, small pored skin. If anyone wants to know about my experiences with Accutane let me know!
-Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
No.

MAKE-UP

-What foundation do you use?
I actually haven’t been wearing any at the moment, although I alternate between Chanel Vitalumiere and Chanel Prolumiere and Bourjois’s Healthy Mix foundation which is absolutely amazing.

-How about concealer?
MAC Studio Finish in NW20. I apply with my MAC 224 and I’ve been happy with the results.

-Do you know your undertone color?
Yip, my face is cool, with a pink undertone. Although the rest of my body is more tanned, and actually carries a yellow undertone. I normally ALWAYS choose foundations with a slight yellow undertone to counteract the pink in my complexion and match my chest and neck to my face. I follow Bobbi Brown’s philosophy on yellow toned foundations, especially when it comes to redness in the cheeks.
-What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I like them, although I don’t love them. Shock horror, coming from a makeup artist. My view is that when they’re done right they’re brilliant and really flattering, but they can go so wrong in my opinion. I hate overly voluminous, overly obvious strip lashes on anyone, and favour more natural tapered lashes, that concentrate on elongating the outer corner. Individual lashes have and always will be my preference of enhancement.
-Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes. Meh.
-What brand of mascara do you use?
Clinique High Impact mascara; it’s a revelation or a decent dupe L’Oreal Voluminous.
-Sephora or MAC?
Well I suppose MAC because we don’t have Sephora here, but if we did, I’d probably choose Sephora.
-Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
Yes.
-What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
Fingers fingers fingers… although I use a MAC 224 for concealer, an Estee Lauder flat eyeshadow brush for packing on colour, a MAC 217 for blending and a AOFM contour brush for cheeks.
-Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
No, although if I REALLY feel it’s necessary I prime with MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre.
-For the face?
Nope.
-What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
This is truly a ridiculous question! How am I supposed to choose? I will simply answer with my favourite of the moment: MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Brightside, a shimmery nude colour.

-Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Both, depending what effect I want. But most days I use neither.
-How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
Very rarely. Occupational hazard.
-What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I love them – and have an obsession with buying them. They just look so pretty in those little pots, but I rarely use them because they’re a pain in the arse to apply.
-Do you use mineral makeup?
No, load of bollocks.
-What is your favorite lipstick?
At the moment, Revlon Black Cherry or Illamasqua Scandal. Revlon Black Cherry below.

-How about lipgloss?
Can’t stand it.
-What is your favorite blush to use?
At the moment I’m enjoying MAC MSF in Stereo Rose used as a blush.

-Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
No – I like to try things in a store before buying.
-Do you like drugstore makeup?
Yes, there are some wonderful brands creating great basics and some fun items too!
-Do you go to CCO’s? (cosmetic company outlets)
We don’t have them here, because we suck.
-Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I did, they were unbearable and old fashioned and I learned more from reading and practicing.
-Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
Not really. If I’m feeling clumsy I apply less, so I can’t mess it up. Nothing worse than clumsy and badly applied makeup
-Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Bad foundations and over plucked eyebrows, that have been drawn on. Disgusting.
-Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
I LOVE bright colours and find myself constantly buying colours I never wear.
-Which celebrity always has great make up?
Scarlett Johanssen often has great makeup or Penelope Cruz. Natalie Portman is always beautiful whether with statement eyes, pink cheeks, or a berry lip. Kate Winslet also always looks polished. Marion Cotillard
-If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
Mascara.
-Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes, I do.
-Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
I think I look fine, although I like the effect of makeup.
-In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
Difficult question. I think that overall Bobbi Brown has a pretty strong makeup line. Foundations are good, blushers, eyeshadows, liners, lipsticks are all good quality and consistent. My other option is Estee Lauder, if you think it’s old fashioned you’ve got it all wrong. Some of the best foundations…hello Futurist?! Great eyeshadows, blushers, and lovely lipsticks.
-What do you think of Makeup?
I love it. It’s the most fun a woman can have, that leaves her feeling pretty, or powerful or both.
